DCH Health System
Centerpiece of the health care system is the DCH Health System,
which operates two hospitals in Tuscaloosa County. One is the DCH Regional Medical
Center, the state’s fifth largest hospital. The other is the Northport-DCH
Medical Center.

Center, where highly trained nurses, support staff—all using the latest
in specialized equipment—provide exceptional care. Among DCH’s health
care delivery system are the Cancer Treatment Center, open-heart surgery, intensive
care units, the Women’s Center, and the DCH Trauma Center. The DCH Outpatient
Center offers the region’s most complete range of health care services
in a convenient, efficient and effective manner.
DCH also provides a variety of other critical and quality health care services
including DCH Sports Medicine, the Regional Dialysis Center, Home Health Care
Agency, the DCH Speech and Hearing Clinic, and the Occupational Health Network.

Northport Medical Center
An
essential element in the DCH Health System is the Northport Medical Center,
a full-service, community-based hospital. The Northport facility offers a complete
range of services and care, including laser surgery, a nuclear medicine department,
sophisticated diagnostic procedures, intensive care unit, and respiratory, physical
and occupational therapy services.
Among the unique programs offered at Northport are the Women’s Pavilion,
which focuses on family-centered maternity care; the North Harbor Pavilion,
a treatment center for emotional problems and substance abuse, and the DCH Rehabilitation
Pavilion, a nationally recognized program offering inpatient and outpatient
services.
The HealthSouth Medical Plaza
The HealthSouth Medical Plaza offers a number of healthcare services
on an outpatient basis. MRI and CT scans, X-ray and fluroscopy are among the
imaging services. The center also provides a full range of physical and occupational
therapy and sports medicine. The HealthSouth Surgical Center is also included
in the complex. Established in 1985, the center is the area's first outpatient
surgery center.

Veterans Administration Medical Center
A huge facility set amid crepe myrtles and oak trees on 140 acres,
the VA Medical Center provides primary and secondary care and all levels of
care in psychiatry. The Center is a regional resource for both intensive and
long-term psychiatric care.
Bryce Hospital
Bryce
Hospital is the flagship facility of Alabama’s mental health system and
is located on 326 acres. For more than 140 years, Bryce has served the needs
of the mentally ill, gaining worldwide recognition for providing patients with
the care and dignity they deserve.
Bryce offers a full range of treatment programs including: short-term
and extended care; dealing with mental illness complicated by substance abuse;
a program to meet the developmental needs of adolescents; specialized care for
the elderly, and vocational, social and physical rehabilitation programs.
Partlow Development Center
The Partlow Developmental Center is Alabama's largest center that
deals with mental retardation. Located on a well-maintained, tree-covered campus,
Partlow patients and residents are served by more than 540 professional caregivers.
Residents live in a home-like environment, and are provided a wide range of
services, skill training opportunities and adult educational programs.

Stallings Center
The
Stallings Center, named in honor of University of Alabama former head football
coach, Gene Stallings and his family, is the home of the Rural Infant Stimulation
Environment Program (RISE). A nationally known model for early intervention
with children with multiple disabilities, RISE offers comprehensive services
and education for students who benefit from occupational, physical and speech
therapy.
Whatley Health Services
The
Maude L. Whatley Health Service is an urban-based primary care organization
that offers comprehensive, economical healthcare services with an emphasis on
preventive medical care and health education. Furnished with modern medical,
laboratory and pharmacy equipment, Whatley Health Services focuses on primary
care needs of citizens - nutrition, prenatal care, internal medicine, and family
care.
The University of Alabama University Medical Center

The University of Alabama University Medical Center, Tuscaloosa's
only multi-specialty clinic, provides healthcare for the entire family in one
convenient location. University Medical Center offers medical care by specialists
in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine,
Neurology, and Psychiatry. Laboratory and X-ray services and medical nutrition
therapy are also provided.

College of Community Health Sciences
The University of Alabama’s University Medical Center in
the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) is one of the premier academic
medical centers in the U. S. for training physicians in the practice of family
medicine. Operated by CCHS medical faculty as a branch campus of the University
of Alabama School of Medicine, which is headquartered in Birmingham, the center
offers medical and health care to everyone in the community at one convenient
location. The center provides training for medical students and resident physicians
specializing in family medicine, with a particular focus on small town and rural
practices. Physicians in the three-year Tuscaloosa Family Practice Residency
at CCHS also receive training and provide patient care at DCH Medical Center
under the supervision of faculty physicians.
